Asking for a client testimonial can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be! Here are five tips for making the process easier and more successful.
- Choose the right client. Ask clients who had a great experience working with you. They’ll be able to articulate the value of your offering in a way that will resonate with potential clients.
- Make it Easy. Provide customers with a template or questionnaire that they can fill out to make the process easier for them. Or give them a prompt for what service or result you provided: “Would you please provide a testimonial about I did _____ resulting in _______.” This will help ensure that the testimonial is comprehensive and highlights the points that you want other people to know.
- Show your appreciation. Always thank the customer for taking the time to provide a testimonial. Most will be happy to do so.
- Be timely. Reach out to customers as soon as they have had a great experience with your product or service. This will ensure that their feedback is fresh and relevant.
- Create a system. Make requesting client testimonials a part of your project off-boarding process ensuring it happens.every.single.time.
- Always respond to feedback. [Bonus tip 😉] Respond to client feedback (if on an online platform like Google or Facebook) and in any follow up conversations. This shows that you value their input and builds trust with potential customers!
